We're having a heat wave!

Ginger - a warming herb.

I have just bottled a new batch of Ginger tincture. What a pretty golden color it is.

Ginger is used medically to help expel gas from the intestines and treat nausea from morning sickness, upset stomach, seasickness, and motion sickness. It is also used to help reduce fevers and lessen the symptoms of colds. Ginger's ability to prevent vomiting has been verified by clinical trial, and it has been shown to stimulate the intestines and promote production of saliva, digestive juices, and bile. It also tends to boost the pumping action of the heart.

I use the tincture daily for circulation problems. My legs, feet, arms and hands always seem to be cold. With the addition of this herbal regimen, I no longer have that problem. Additionally, I no longer have heartburn...yeah!

So, that is another BIG PHARMA med I no longer take.....!

Now, if I can successfully reduce the "tonnage" I have acquired over the last ten years, I would truly be happy.

I will, find an herbal assist for that major project!

Here is my recipe for
ginger tincture:

I use alcohol tinctures primarily, as it makes the constituents of the herb easier for our bodies to assimilate.

I use vodka, though information on various websites suggest gin or even Everclear(grain alcohol).

I used Everclear once and did not get the same quality product as 100 proof vodka.

Time to gather this stuff to make an herbal tincture. This recipe is for Ginger
but it is the same for most herbal tinctures.

Fresh Ginger (preferably organic)
Quart canning jar
Vodka

THAT'S IT!!!

Grate the ginger, (enough to fill 1/2 quart)
cover with alcohol........
cover and let it sit in a dark cool place for 2 weeks.
shake daily

Strain the herb from the alcohol tincture, bottle into brown bottles or jars and store in a dark, cool place then you are done!

Easy, isn't it?
